Asymmetry shows the differences and similarities of two objects. This helps create a nicely laid out photo that shows the comparisons and the staging of the two objects.

Balance in photography is when there are two objects that have the same visual weight but are different. They can be the same object with different details, such as the photos below. Photographers use the balance to show some symmetry but have the details be different so that it is more eye pleasing.

Symmetry is when two objects are the same. When you draw a line down the middle, they resemble the same objects with the same framing and detail.

Pictorial Lines

The arrangement of lines in photography is when the lines in your photo are the main subject. This helps you focus on the details of the lines and what kind of design or photo it makes. It displays and shows the purpose of the lines.

Decorative lines in photography help add detail to the photo. Decorative lines add to the photo instead of having the lines in the photo be the main subject. With having decorative lines, it adds an embellishment without it overtaking the main focus of the photo.

Leading lines to the subject was one of our assignments for our posts. Leading lines in photography is when a line leads to the main subject. This helps make your subject the main focus and it helps direct your eye to the person or thing. This helps a photo be very eye pleasing and shows what is important in the photo.

Depth in photography allows you to focus on the main object. It then gives you a chance to look at the rest of the photo and be able to analyze the scene and what else is going on.

Leading lines in photography allows your eyes to follow throughout the scene. It gives you a chance to see the whole entire setting and all the details within the photo.

Repetition in photography is used a lot to show the details of the scene. It helps emphasize the details in the object and the repeating details. It can pull the viewer in and be very eye pleasing.

Diagonals in photos help you see the depth in the photo. It allows your eyes to follow an object and see movement throughout the image.

Rules of thirds in photography creates the main subject to not be placed in the middle. This gives the viewer a chance to focus on the main subject and also have their eyes follow to the composition of the background. This helps a photo be more appealing and create a flow throughout the photo.

The triangle rule in photography helps your eyes follow in a motion to see the main focal points. This gives the viewer a chance to look at a photo and read it, just like reading a book. It is a visually appealing way to see all of the main points in a photo and to position your photo.
